I have been pondering for a while now what kind of outdoor table or stand I should buy, or make for my trees. I have looked at a lot of different pictures, read a few forum posts, and really came up with this idea from a mash of different ideas. We had our nephew come over this weekend and he was able to help me out. I went to Lowe’s on Saturday and had them cut the wood for me, which they did reluctantly. It’s basically made with all pressure treated wood, using 4×4’s for the legs, 2×4’s for the frame and support, and 1×6’s for the top. I decided to use the scrap 1×6’s for the supports on the legs because I thought the legs were a little wobbly. Fortunately I think I can now use this as a shelf when I get some planks to lay across.
The 1×6’s were spaced just over a half an inch apart. The table is 5 ft wide, by 28 inches deep, (though the top pieces were 30 inches long and overhang by an inch on each side), and the table is 3 ft. high.
As you can see, I have thinned the herd and right now only have 4 trees out there. I have a few tropicals that will eventually make their way out there, but there is plenty of room for a couple more trees. I have tried to be committed to a quality over quantity thought process when it comes to bonsai and so far I have been happy with my progress. I am going to leave the larch layering through this season, and hopefully separate either next year or late this year. The pine will be getting some work in a couple weeks at my first Kaikou class.
Thanks for looking!
