Thought I’d share a bloom from my little Grewia Caffra I picked up a few weeks ago at NE Bonsai. There have been two blooms that have opened up since then under the lights. Enjoy!

I realized that I hadn’t posted an update on my indoor setup since I started it August. I basically went through months of research and thinking about it before I decided to go with T5HO fluorescent lighting. I got the lights in late November, and all of my little tropical starters met their demise before I got the lights. I think there was a few other factors at work. Namely poor watering, and drafty windows with little light.
I currently have a 2ft. 4-bulb T5HO light from Hydrofarm, with 6500k bulbs in each slot I also have a propogation heat mat from Hydrofarm, a new addition, to warm the roots of the tropicals. I just got a brand new cool mist humidifier which seems to be doing the trick. Currently the humidity reads at 50% and the air temperature is about 70 degrees, and the heat mat should keep the roots a little warmer. Still learning how to do this indoor thing but as you can see in the picture, I really went for it by buying a larger Willow Leaf Ficus. My third Ficus, the first two died so I am trying again.
