Last night I put together a small setup for growing some of my trees indoors. I was inspired by Jerry Meislik’s site to try and grow trees under regular shoplights. I got a cheap 2ft. wide adjustable shelving unit, then a 2ft t5 dual bulb shoplight. I had to wire a plug into the light as it was intended to be wired into a switch. I plan on putting together something else for the winter but this was the first foray into growing under lights. It is more of an experiment for now and will upgrade in due time.
So far I have moved my portulacaria afra and ficus benjimina kiki under the lights. Also under the light’s is a Mexican heather that my fiancee had to have last time we were at NE Bonsai. I’ll provide updates as we go on here and stuff has been under the lights for a while.
